Why this matters
Most homeowners have no idea what shape their roof is in until water shows up in the living room, and a traditional inspection means a stranger on a ladder and a vague verbal verdict. Drones + vision models change the economics: fly the roof in minutes, photograph everything, and generate a graded, photo-backed report a homeowner can actually read (and a roofer can quote against).
What exists now
A working MVP of the full flow:
- Public service site with an inspection request form
- Homeowner report lookup by address
- An operator upload screen that reads GPS EXIF data from drone photos and auto-groups them by detected address
- AI-generated roof reports (Gemini vision) from the grouped photos
- Webhook notifications for customers and roofing-company referrals
The pipeline runs end-to-end locally; the operations side (real flights, real neighborhoods) is the current frontier.
What I’m looking for
Early pilot neighborhoods and partners: homeowners who want a report, drone operators who want a repeatable service to sell, or roofing companies interested in a qualified-lead channel.
Open questions
- Is this a direct-to-homeowner service, a tool for drone operators, or a lead engine for roofers?
- What does an insurance-grade report require that a homeowner-grade one doesn’t?
- Seasonality: where does this business live in winter?
